GOLDEEN MFR TEACHING SERIES - THORACIC/CERVICAL SPINE *
Students will learn assessment techniques both postural and through palpitation. Emphasis will also be on communication with the client. The level of success in treating this area depends greatly on therapist and client's working together to treat the issue, but also to discern what lifestyle activities or stresses may be contributing to the fascial restrictions.
In our modern society there are few individuals who do not suffer with neck and shoulder issues. Between long hours sitting working on computers, to the stresses and strains of daily life nearly everyone at some time will experience pain in the upper part of the body.
Chronic holding patterns, poor posture, improper body mechanics and ergonomics contribute to
the tendency of having complaints in this area.
In nearly all cases of neck and shoulder complaints there will be involvement of the jaw with variations on TMJ/chronic holding. Special emphasis will be placed on assessment and treatment
of the jaw. Follow-up class is Lumbar Spine/Pelvis.
